fedin has a relatively small inventory of sounds.
note that fedin can be written using either the english alphabet or its own script.
so that the dictionary i'm making for this website is easier to program, going forward i'll only ever be writing fedin words using the english alphabet.
below, the english alphabet is on the left of the forwardslash, and the fedin script is on the right.

1 fedin's
ė sound is a schwa. it can be represented using the ipa as [ə].
2 fedin's
h sound can be produced by shifting english's sh back towards the hard palate of the mouth (just behind the top row of teeth). it can be represented using the ipa as [ç].
3 fedin's
r sound is equivalent to japanese's, which is somewhere between an english l and r. it can be represented using the ipa as [ɾ].
4 fedin's
kh sound is a gutteral sound produced at the back of the throat. it can be reprsented using the ipa as [x].
5 fedin's
zh sound is similar to an initial j in english, but with a softer start. it can be represented using the ipa as [ʒ].
vowels are pronounced in their entirety (
ia does not become
ya).
double vowels (
aa,
ee...) are simply pronounced for a longer duration.
double consonants (
bb,
dd..) are pronounced with a slight initial pause, in which the consonants' sound may be softly readied.
note that the verabaliser
khü is usually pronounced as
kh. i definitely recommend storing this fact away in preparation for the next lesson.
