i will never know the quiet hands
that strip me bare – i will never know
the white heat of the kiln nor
the sensation of belonging to a graveyard
or mountain or wherever my ashes might twirl
in the wind like some ornament
i will never know the silence of my own funeral
nor its difference to silences ive shared willingly:
will my funeral be beautiful?
will my body be present?
